The 'Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances', more commonly known as the RoHS Directive bans the sale of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) manufactured after 30-06-2006 in the EU which contain more than the permitted levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium and both polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

RoHS regulations (E.U. Directive 2002/95/EC) came into force on 1st July 2006

Products manufactured after this date must comply with the requirements of the RoHS Directive. The Regulations also apply to products which are imported into the European Union.

Q1. What is Meyertech's policy with respect to the RoHS Directive ?

A. From 1st July 2006 all Meyertech ZoneVu and Fusion products sold in non-exempt markets will be compliant with the RoHS Directive. Our full RoHS statement of compliance can be downloaded from RoHS Statement


Q2. How does RoHS affect me ?

A. If your company purchases products for installation in security systems in the EU you need to ensure the products are RoHS compliant.


Q3. Have any Meyertech products been made EOL (end of life) as a result of the RoHS legislation ?

A. There are few which have been made EOL containing components for which there is no RoHS compliant replacement. To help you we have produced a RoHS Compliance Chart.


Q4. Has Meyertech increased product prices as a result of RoHS compliance ?

A. No, Meyertech product prices remain unchanged.


Q5. Will the performance of the 'new' Meyertech RoHS compliant products change in any way ?

A. Meyertech has been careful to select direct equivalent RoHS compliant materials and components to ensure the performance of the products does not change. Where direct replacements have not been available Meyertech has developed existing products to accommodate the new component to achieve improved or very similar performance.


Q6. I have purchased non-compliant stock prior to 1st July from Meyertech. Where do I stand regarding RoHS legislation ?

A. Under the current RoHS directive companies are permitted to legally sell-on non-compliant stock they have on their shelf (put on the market) as long as it was manufactured prior to 1st July 2006.


Q7. Can my customers (end users) continue to use non-compliant Meyertech products and for how long ?

A. Your customers can continue to use their non-complaint products as long as they wish. The law only affects products manufactured after 1st July 2006 and does not apply to existing products.


Q8. How am I going to support non-RoHS compliant products which were installed prior to 1st July ?

A. Under the RoHS legislation Meyertech are permitted to sell non-RoHS compliant spare parts for the sole purpose repair or reuse of products sold prior to the 1st July 2006. Meyertech's Service Centre has retained an amount of non-RoHS compliant stock and components for this purpose.
