The rain stopped, the clouds parted and the sun shone as HRH The Queen arrived in Leigh.
As the royal limousine pulled up at the multi-million pound Leigh Sports Village, HM the Queen emerged resplendent in a vivid fuchsia pink to be greeted by the welcoming crowd including students from Wigan and Leigh College on the site.

Guests included Leigh MP Andy Burnham, his wife and family, Lord Peter Smith and local councilors.

Her Majesty pulled a curtain to reveal a plaque commemorating her official opening of LSV before enjoying a sumptuous meal, no doubt content with the thought that the security systems in place were of high quality.
