Meyertech Ref. 07-04 Resilient Series 3 Secures Home Office HMP Contract
Created by: Marketing

As part of the Home Office CAPS Programme, Meyertech has been awarded orders to supply its ZoneVu CCTV control systems technology for HM Prison Service contracts.

The contracts have been awarded through two companies:
Quadrant Security Group (QSG), part of the Quadnetics Group Plc.
Reliance High-Tech Ltd, a group company of Reliance Security Group Plc.

Category A prisons are the most secure prisons in the UK (excludes Scotland) with the responsibility to make escape impossible. They contain prisoners who present the highest risk to the police, the public and the security of the state and have operated 'error-free' (i.e. there have been no breakouts) since 1995.

A major factor in the decision was the resilient design features built into the Series 3 which provides multi-levels of redundancy required by High Reliability Organisations (HRO). QSG were instrumental in producing the specification for the resilient redundant design, having worked closely with Meyertech over the last twelve months.

There are currently eight High Security Prisons in the UK (excludes Scotland) Belmarsh, Frankland, Full Sutton, Long Lartin, Manchester, Wakefield, Whitemoor and Woodhill, holding approximately 5,500 prisoners, including approximately 1000 category A prisoners, the rest being largely category B prisoners.
